The Story So Far...

Greetings All!!

I am an American from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I am about to begin my life in Daegu, Korea in 5 days.

What brought me to this decision you ask???

Well...

1. I lived and volunteered in Peru for several months in 2009 and I built up not only a knack for practical and enjoyable backpacking but also a passion for travel and the food and culture of places beyond my normal geographic grasp.

2. I am poor... Like, dirt poor.... I live in a tiny room in a friend's house, mooch off of my dad and eat tuna out of a can.

2A. As an alternative to being poor, a Korean language school is offering me the big bucks and full accommodations to come there and make available the resources of my Kirk Douglas-like American business accent, good looks and college degree.

3. I like chili paste.

4. It's not a good time to be a new college grad in America right now... All of your friends are working random McJobs at weird hours. They never see you and you never see them... And If you DO, it's probably because at least one of you is unemployed... And who really wants to work only to be able to afford to get up the next day and keep yourself alive?

5. I am a professional sound technician and am greatly bothered by sounds... The sound of my car's motor running... The complimentary sound ofother cars honking at me from behind for not doing something illegal to accommodate them... Clowns... the sounds of ignorant people yelling at Chinese food restaurant workers about how they need their blunt wraps and pizza rolls "NOW".... The sounds of evil and Imperial casino construction and of loans being denied to hard-working individuals from neighborhoods that this city left behind........... I NEED NEW AND BETTER SOUNDS.

Like, maybe the sound of civility and decency... Perhaps the sound of friendly and competitive commerce... of fresh fish frying out on the street... maybe I wanna hear the sound of my heartbeat slowing to a gentle thump and my stomach expelling it's many toxins which I inundate it with daily in this urban U.S. life...

Don't get me wrong... I love my family and I love my friends... BUT I AM SOOOO GONE!!!!
